Neck muscle strain

I have occipital neuralgia and severe arthritis in my neck. The doctor prescribed baclofen, a muscle relaxant, especially for the neck. I was given some stretches and other exercises to do. I use a shiatsu massager everyday, a heating pad and red light treatments.
I made an oil - jojoba and peppermint oil and rub it on my neck before I go to bed. The cooling distraction of the mint provides some relief and distraction from the pain in my neck. I use a special cervical pillow and sleep on my back.
Maybe it would be good to follow up with your PCP and see what other therapies would work for you.

Your condition is different than mine of course, but the red light therapy seems to be working for me too. I used it for last 6 days and noticed big improvements compare to 3 previous weeks when I didn't use it. I am going to see a physiotherapist this week (a different one) for my neck. Thank you for your comment!
