I've had OLP for 5 years now. Nobody local wanted to touch me. Finally went to UF in Gainesvialle, FL to see specialist. She and surgeon did biopsy both prescrived Dexamethasone 0.5mg/5ml Elixir (oral steriod rinse) when have outbreaks. Only use sparingly becasuse will thin your skin.

Also had "Magic Mouthwash" prescribed when having bad episodes/open sores - very soothing. Has to be made up by compound pharmacy. Normally prescribed cancer patients with mouth sores.

Same other above - avoid spicy foods, avoid too hot food/beverages, Happy Tooth great (tried Sensodyne and felt like acid!), avoid sharp foods (cerals, chips, etc) - OR tear into tiny pieces.

@flpeach is Happy Tooth a toothpaste? Where do you get it, besides Amazon?

I, too, have been using Dexamethasone Elixir for my lichen planus for around 14 years with great success. When I tried to get my prescription refilled a couple of months ago, pharmacist said it was on back order with no date of resuming. I’m so upset. I had a compounding pharmacy make up a Fluocinonide 0.05% Oral rinse?. I’m not confident on its effectiveness, but I’ll reserve final judgement for awhile. Thanks for reminding me of Magic Mouthwash! I live in the Gainesville area also☺️

I also went to UF and saw a specialist. His recommendation was no mint in and form, so cinnamon and other spices. Take down my stress level. The toothpaste I use is Fennel flavored and I buy on Amazon. I’ve only had one flare up in the past 3 years
