I have neuropathy in my feet and legs, have had both hips replaced and suffer with degenerative arthritis in my back for years. I've been controlling the pain with Oxycodin in small doses for years and trying to avoid surgery to fuse my spine. Now the pain is so bad the medication isn't helping and my pain specialist wants to burn the nerves in my spine to stop the pain for a year. There's got to be a better way.

I've had these issues and had the surgery . It helped immensely!! No drugs.. I don't want to become addicted or to feel weird from any. . I take ibuprofen when really needed for headaches etc.. I've taken the hard stuff after surgeries for very short time only . Both Hips replaced 2 major back surgeries, shoulder, knee many others. I have had 12 ischemic strokes that haven't been a major yet thankfully and they are from my Connective Tissue disease. No cure. Life can be hard. I'm sorry you're having a very hard time dealing.
I had ablation/kyphoplasty after having a crushed vertebrae in L5, it has helped a lot. I can definitely recommend it. I still take pain meds because I have a lot of other pain from many bone mets but I am very thankful the spinal surgery worked as well as it did to give me relief from some of the worse pain areas I had.
The nerve burning in your back has a 3-6 month effectiveness period I have had three. I also have neuropathy in my feet and take 100mg of Pregabalin which I have found helps. I use heat packs when it is cold weather as well. I also take paracetamol/codeine and tramadol for lower back pain due to herniated discs. Pregabalin was originally started to stop sharp jolts of nerve pain due to my back, it was continued and the dosage was raised after I was hospitalised for other reasons and have developed drug induced diabetes.
In my situation I need spinal nerve ablation (by burning the nerves) because it’s the last resort for me. I am looking forward to July 30–the first step in the process where they numb the nerves to test for a good/bad result. Otherwise it’s just drugs with cognitive and meditation therapy. I left oxycodone years ago and take Hydromorphone only to get out of bed in the morning. It seems like so many are shut out by their doctors which is demoralizing. Change if you can.
I too have gotten so much worse pain. Drs say I have opioid disorder because it’s not helping as much
Lumbar and cervical spinal stenosis:/ diabetic/Graves’ disease:/ recently told I have dercums. What the heck!!!!

I have chronic back pain also which was also unmanageable. I had the ablation or burning of the nerve to relieve the pain. The first one lasted 16 months of relief. Last year I had a 2nd one & so far it’s been 15 months and I’m just starting to feel the pain. So maybe you should try the ablation. It’s worth a try. I’m very happy with it.
