Pain With Broken Wrist

Wed 1/15 I was casted for a broken wrist that occurred the day before after a fall while working out. After the break was set and plaster cast in place, the pain subsided and I even slept well. I was given no info at all except not to rotate the wrist. The following day, the pain was ghastly. The office told me day after day that this is normal. Other than 2 fingers, this is my first fracture and I'm perplexed. I see the doc Wed for x-rays as planned. Taking 2 Tylenol Xtra Strength twice a day. Not much help. Is this level of pain "normal" ? Asking this knowing every case and person is different. Thank you.
