Does esomeprazole, an acid reflux med, affect bone health long-term?

Iam on Esomeprazole for few years for acid reflux. What are the long term side effects people experience. People tell it affects the bones , and food absorption.
Please share real life experiences

Waterlilly: can you please explain your comment that PPIs help with food absorption? I don't understand how that can be if the point of the PPI is to drastically reduce your stomach acid, which is what breaks down your food to aid in absorption of nutrients. Thanks for the info!

I have EPI and my PPI helps the enzymes I take to digest food, helps malabsorption. It decreases my excessive acid to help digest food.

I don't know anything about EPI, perhaps the PPI with enzymes works differently in that situation. For GERD, it makes it harder to digest food because of the decrease in acid. B12 is cited as a possible side effect for that reason. Thanks for the response, and good luck with your issues.
