This was exciting news from Sarah Shafer,MD who has Sjogren's herself and provides the informative newsletter (free) Sjogren's Advocate about her success with the American College of Rheumotologists in getting Primary Care Doctors trained in how to recognise Sjogren's. If you have Sjogren's (or think you might) please look up her newsletter. It is chock full of info.
@sbhubb107 It must be tough having good doctors at such distance. My doctor is at University of Colorado about 1 hour away. I always need to coordinate app’t times with my husband because he drives. The drive time can be a problem at times but, I always remind myself that I’m so lucky to have a great doctor! Is there a reason that you can’t drive that distance? I don’t mean to be hostile, but I’ve heard so many members say that they can’t find a doctor anywhere. I see that you’ve got an appointment in January. GREAT. Keep your options open to the doctor you’ll see, and don’t tell them that you’ve done lots of research, let them call the action.
These times with autoimmune diseases are so difficult. When I was first diagnosed, I was in total shock, how could this be me? I just wanted to be mad at everyone! I’m still mad but what good is that going to be?
Really, I just want what’s best for you. We have to live years with these diseases, so we have to be willing to accept the best care when we find it.
Stay in touch, I’d love to know how you’re doing! Becky
