The old saying and “ if the shoe fits”

Posted by yzer1 @yzer1, 6 days ago

So, the “ old saying “ is: “ if the only tool in your tool box is a hammer; everything starts looking like a nail.”
And “ if the shoe fits” is another old saying for sure.
In any event I did some research and picked three of the highest rated prostate cancer doctors in my area. The one that most interested me was the immunotherapy doc. He seemed to be the most honest. The first doc I went to boasted about how many local docs refer patients to him because he’s the best at removing the prostate. I told him the Hammer and Nail adage and he REALLY DIFNT LIKE IT NOR ME!
The last guy did say that when the time was right he too would refer me.
It’s been 9 years and I got my second 1 month dose of Lupron. But a recent scan suggest that it’s now time for radiation. But they have said what, why and when?
I heard about computer guided radiation that target the cancer specifically. I need some new knowledge before meeting the new handyman.

Suggestions please

You don’t really give us any information that can be used to give you Advice. We need to know your Gleason score, what your PSA When diagnosed, How old you are now, did you get a decipher test or something like What was the result?. Was there anything else in your biopsy? How many cars were taken and had cancer?

Surgery and radiation have about the same success rate. You have less ED with radiation. Surgery is a little harder on the body, but then you can have radiation if it comes back.

Instead of Lauren, you could ask if you could have Orgovyx, A pill you take once a day. When you stop, your testosterone comes back much quicker.

@jeffmarc: When you say that surgery and radiation have similar success rates, as you often do, you refer to surgery only, correct? What RT do you compare it to? My reading is that RTmax (EBRT+Brachy boost+ADT) is slightly better than surgery only but has higher toxicity snd even higher ED risk. Are you comparing to RT monotherapy?
