Comments about CBD and/or THC for neuropathy pain and paresthesia?

Posted by amkie @amkie, May 25, 2024

Anyone tried CBD topically or THC gummies or anything on that order for the burning radiating pain of neuropathy? Also has anyone had a neurologist suggest this as a potential therapy? I will ask my own neurologist but wanted some broader input in the meantime. Success anyone? My family thinks this should be considered. I have tried various topical and oral prescribed medications with little success so far. Thanks for any comments.

Thank you. I will revisit Anne Oaklander's work which I came across early on but forgot about in the
fog of information overload when something like this hits your life.

My partner and I and 2 family members are medical cannabis patients. Mayo in jacksonville had me cease legal cannabis as part of surgery pre evaluations. I was too ill (after 8 months) and removed from unos. First day after removal from waiting list was using my medical cannabis again and all (several) the benefits of cannabis are returning. We make our own ointment from dispensary vetted product, (50/50 thc/cbd) indica heavy. RS0 is VERY effective for us, when available.

Beware of shady vape shop or online vendors selling unvetted snake oil. Their day is coming soon and they will no longer be able to take advantage of the uninformed and misinformed.

I have SFN with autonomic dysfunction. I got two types of gummies from a certified dispensary in Massachusetts. I use 100 THC as needed for pain and 100 THC for anxiety as needed only at night. Both have helped tremendously with my sleep. I do not take them all the time, just when needed for pain or anxiety. I also don't take both together on the same night. I do not like the smell of marijuana, so I cannot smoke it. The gummies are flavored, but I can taste a slight hint of the cannabis, so I chew them enough to swallow them to avoid the taste of the cannabis. I am glad I gave it a try.

I'm a believer and legal patient. Thanks for your factual information. RSO and/or heavy indica are my families go to's. Home made topical with heavy thc (zero psychoactive effects when used as topical) . Ty for carrying a factual message.

Hello
I have had burning neuropathy in my lower legs and feet for 2 years since a Covid Vaccine Injury, validated by neurologist. I tried everything!! Cannabis, Gabapentin, accupuncture (which helped for a couple of days) and Xanax (for night time sleep). Nothing really worked fully. A month ago my neurologist suggested I try Nortriptyline (an old anti-depressant) which they have found helped with nerve pain. I started with 10 mg and then increased to 20 mg. My pain is 95% gone!!!! My neurologist's comment was "Fabulous...when it works it works!"

I wanted to share with all of you as I am so thankful and thrilled. I actually feel normal again.

Do you take it along with any other meds or just the Nortriptyline only?

I just take Nortriptyline as a prescription for nerve pain. I do take vitamin supplements, which I have for many years.
Thank you for responding. I hope this helps.

These two ladies appeared on Dragons Den and won over nearly all the panelist’s with their CBD extract gummies for the treatment of peripheral neuropathy neuropathy. The dragons were all interested in making a deal. They’ve since gone into production and the reviews from users are very positive. Has anyone tried them?

We have a vacation home rural area. Clean fresh air. Remarked to myself over last several weeks there how my neuro symptoms abated. Strange I thought. Nothing different in regimen.

Now back one day to NJ home near NYC and symptomatically pain, numbness returned.

On a whim looked up environmental factors affecting neuro and lo and behold … best to stay in clean fresh air.

Anyone else with similar findings?

I'm not familiar with the product, however, CBD is not the end all, be all drug that fixes all the world's problems. It can interact with other medications. Be careful using it

I have several medications for peripheral neuropathy in my feet, one is nortriptyline, pregabalin 300mls, CBD 100 FULL SPECTRUM 100mL oil taken with an (eye) dropper sublingually (under the tongue). The CBD has worked well for me for 8 months numbing the strong pain especially in the evening. I feel that I should try dropping one of the medications and I am thinking of the nortriptyline.
