Anybody else with Monoclonal Gammopathy?

Posted by persistentc @persistentc, Jun 12 3:29pm

I just recently got lab results that shows: monoclonal gammopathy is detected with the following components: IgM-kappa.
Of course, I've been googling and following links all over the place. What is interesting is that one of the symptoms is polyneuropathy. Would like to connect with others who might be going down this path.

Have you discussed the lab results with your doctor?

Hi John,
Thank you for the links!

I sure wish I could discuss the results with my doctor!! I left him a portal message this past Tuesday (the results came into the Duke portal late Monday night) but so far there has been no response. As you can imagine, I'm going a little bit crazy waiting on him! He's a cardiologist though. We were trying to get to the bottom of my heart rate going over 200 bpm while swimming at a moderate speed for 30 minutes (1000 m).

Did you see this article? It provides a little more information on the heart rate topic.

I was chasing my neuropathy symptoms and received a similar diagnosis. I was referred to an excellent oncologist, who ultimately concluded that (a) the test result was a false positive caused by an earlier infection, and (b) the neuropathy is drug induced. So the lab result was a dead end but the consultation was fruitful.

I have MGUS plus Polyneurapthy. Pain can be intense at times.
Is there a proven link between the two?
