Anybody here have chronic constipation & pelvic floor dysfunction?
Hi,
I have slow transit constipation and have been going to pelvic floor PT and have been treated with various medication and laxatives but I feel like I am dealing with so much diarrhea it’s interfering with my daily living. I was wondering if anyone has had any success living with these issues? Thank you

I got in within a month. I filled out the form on line and all they care about is your insurance….. yes, I got into a urogynocologist and gastrointestinal doc. I flew to MSP and caught Groome Transportation to Centerstone Plaza (best busses to and from clinics and ask for the mayo rate.). This is your easiest route. DO NOT WAIT FOR YOUR DOC TO DO A REFERRAL. I made that mistake. they take all insurance other than Medicare advantage. DO IT! I will not go anywhere else now. I’m set for the Medtronic tiny interstim device in Sept. I could have done it in July. I have been to Mayo for osteoarthritis and hand surgeries, triple hernia repair in March this year, feet issues solved. Knee issue solved with persistence and a shot in the bursa sac of my knee. Colonoscopy that ended in the surgery room. The hospital was heavenly and I never ever see an employee unhappy…….. GO GO GO! Twigs restaurant attached to Centerstone is awesome. One now friend I met there stayed at Centerstone for 7 months for cancer treatments. The you cannot get an appt for years is baloney. Go to Rochester. Phoenix is harder to get into and Rochester has the most doctors. 1000…………….
You will need to go on line to Groome Transportation and set appts for the smaller vans to and from the MSP airport. you can fly into Rochester but $$$$$$$
Thank you..everything moves like turtles. I’ll call myself.
Right now due to gastroparesis my teeth are going from wonderful to massive decay. Next week I’m getting one entire side extracted. It’s happing so fast. I suffer severe dry mouth and my vitamin levels are all low, my diet is poor. It never stops.
Oh no! Just fill out the on line form and they call the next day. They are on top of it! I’m so sorry.
I went on a plant based diet and lost 20 lbs as well as it helped my gut. I have to cook my veggies till they’re soft and I eat Greek yogurt and only sourdough bread. I make sure I get the 8 glasses a day of liquid, made up of my green tea with ginger, water and shakes.
I drink 3 collagen and protein shakes a day, take a multivitamin and some supplements like R-ALA and use olive oil, coconut oil, and ground flaxseed every day. I’m getting enough protein, vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and fiber now. I limit my meat to grass fed a few times a week and once in a while I’ll have something dairy or a carb.
I feel better despite all my chronic and autoimmune conditions. It’s a battle with my teeth, and I’ve accepted they’re never going to be white, so I smile small. I used to have a beautiful smile people always told me, so it’s been hard to deal with. I’m not a candidate for veneers. I’ve lost so many teeth over the years I have only crowns for molars so it’s hard to chew anything. Anyway, have to focus on the positive. I hope this helps somehow.
I have an Interstim implant for urinary and fecal incontinence. It did not work. I asked about having it removed and my urologist and colon surgeon both said they are extremely difficult to remove because the leads can break off. Obviously that can create problems. was not told that prior to having the surgery!
I was on carb /fiber diet due to pancreatitis and was constipated a lot. But was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 and had to introduce fats back with Pancreatic Enzymes (to cut on carbs). Fats have increased the bile production and flow, which, in turn, helped with heavy constipation. Also, you can try a small dose of Ursodeoxycholic acid 30 minutes before the food instead of laxative (ONLY if you don't have gallstones tho).
Taking lactulose can also help with constipation if you don't have glucose problems.
You also have to introduce a quick jumps and runs after the meal for an hour to enhance bowel motility.
There’s a program called Buff Muff at the website vaginacoach.com that helps with so many different symptoms and is very inexpensive
My problem is somewhat unique. I had cervical spine surgery, June of 2020. It was long surgery and when I woke up my bowels have never functioned. I mean never. Went through two years of testing to figure it out and not much for a diagnosis. They scheduled me for a total colectomy. Two weeks before, I cancelled . Again, I was scheduled and canceled deciding to live a life of laxatives.
The issue now is I’ve been doing this 5 years and not much works. My nightly and morning regimen is huge amounts along with a colonoscopy prep every two weeks. All meds and diets failed. I think my situation is so different it’s not diet or exercise or water that will he help me. My doctor thought my last resort is Mayo because if anyone can find a way they can and they might say the same thing, take it out.
Yes. All they care about is insurance. I went to the Mayo Rochester for the same and was there for 2 1/2 weeks and billed insurance 22k and lodging, flights and food were expensive. I came away with no help... except to come back later to fly again for another test... (I have not returned)I thought they would do more thorough checking on the problem I was there for and instead they did a ton of testing on cardiac and no help for pelvic dysfunction. Extremely disappointed in this place.
i would not count on help there with this type of issue unless you are ready for a colostomy bag. That was all I was offered and I was hoping to do their PT specifically for this. The Drs said I would be doing it and then the PT person denied me. Beware you can spend a lot of money and time and the care was not very good at all in my opinion.
