There is a thing called hyperalgesia. With hyperalgesia syndrome, taking large doses for a long time, can actually make her pain level worse. My hope would be that she strongly pursue whatever is the root cause of her abdominal pain. Taking narcotics will only add to any abdominal issues due to the constipation caused from the pain meds.

Oh she is adamant that there must be a cause for the pain and is vigilant about finding it but she feels that the doctors aren't doing enough to find the cause of the issue. They do endoscopies but never find anything - that is why they claim it has to be the oxy.
One doc has told her that there is a possibility that this pain will never go away - having something to do with the recurring pancreatitis. I honestly think that may be the closest that she ever comes to an answer but she is determined to find a doctor to figure it out. Unfortunately it seems that no one in the medical field in our area shares her fervor to find the solution for her. It has been suggested that she look into palliative care & I personally feel that she should look at a pain management clinic but I believe she thinks that is giving up in a way.
Ideally she would like to be completely healed and able to return to work but right now she is walking with a walker due mostly to the pain.
