I'm so sorry this happened to you; especially when you were trying with your doctor to figure out what was happening with your body! That's awful! It could be your doctor had some problem that he didn't feel comfortable communicating to his patients. Years ago, I had the nicest doctor for my family. He was so good at diagnosing us. We really liked him! Then one day we showed up for an appointment and they were moving furniture out of his office and the doctor was no where around! We were never informed of this! We were literally in shock! They wouldn't tell us why they were moving the furniture out or to where. I found out some time later from a friend who worked with the doctor that he was an alcoholic and was forced to give up his career. You would have never known that. He never appeared intoxicated at any appointments.
I hope you find another really good doctor who can figure out what is going on with your body. Do a lot of research first.
