What is the cause of brown semen and what should I do about it?

I think this is from slight internal bleeding which is normal post procedures. It will clear up in a couple of weeks

I haven't had any procedures or seen anyone about this. I will definitely check next time to see if it clears up. Anyone else have a comment?

The only time I had a brownish color semen was after a prostate biopsy and it only lasted about 2 weeks. Doc said it was some blood from the biopsy. If you haven't had any procedure done recently you should see your urologist.

I also experienced brown semen. I made an appointment with my physician and he did the rectal exam which was normal. PSA a month prior at yearly physical was normal 1.3. He suggested an MRI just to be safe. In the mean time the brown went away before the MRI was done. About a month later I had the MRI and the results revealed PI-RADS 5 - (clinically significant cancer is highly likely to be present). Now the part that was disturbing to me.
The urologist that I was referred to was a 3 month wait. I found 2 more in the mean time that could see me. Each one was surprised that I was able to get the MRI for the blood in the semen. The 3rd urologist said the same. All 3 said that they would not have suggested an MRI for my symptoms. So please insist on having one done. After the MRI was billed to the insurance company, the claim was denied. Deemed unnecessary. I am coming up on 1 year post prostatectomy.
Gleason score was 7 4+3.
Please see a doctor!

Brown tint is usually a breakdown product of blood. When I noticed a pink/lt brown tinge in my semen I consulted a urologist.
He told me that blood in the urine is far more ominous but he recommended an MRI due to a PSA of 6.
Found a suspicious area, biopsy followed, and my prostate was loaded with Gleason 4+3 unfavorable.
I would strongly advise taking the first steps to understanding why you have this condition.

Two years ago I noticed my semen was brown. I saw a urologist about it. He was not concerned with it, but gave me a digital prostate exam and had me get a PSA test. Further testing revealed prostate cancer. Cancer grew and ended up having prostate removed. Moral to story is, see a urologist and get checked out.

Had the brown tint several years ago. Then later (2/23) had increased PSA and had an MRI and biopsy that confirmed prostate cancer. 3+3 Gleason. Watchful waiting. Had a Urolift procedure last Oct.

My last PSA moved up a bit (get PSA every 6 months). The MD thought that since it had been two years since the original diagnosis, another MRI and biopsy were in order. Not much of a change, one spot was 3+4 but others still 3+3.

Post all of that, since December I have passed 5 small blood clots in Urine. No blood in urine, just the clot, with about 4 weeks in between. Having a CT scan and Cystoscopy next month.
