That's very encouraging that you're seeing results so quickly. A couple of comments: 1) my urologist also recommended a vacuum pump to help with blood flow to the penis. It helped for that, although it was never useful for me with the sexual act itself 2) Besides the daily 5mg Cialis my urologist told me I could use 20mg on days when I wanted to try to have intercourse (ie. take 4 instead on 1 on those days). That helped me a lot, but you should ask your urologist if that's an option for you. 3) progress for me was slow, but steady. I'm at 1 year and I've made a lot of progress, but it has been slow for me, so don't despair or give up if it takes a while. Some guys recover quickly but for most of us it can take a year for the nerves to wake up and another year for the nerves to fully recover. Also, initially I had trouble with accidental urine releases when trying to have sex. All that improved with time, but slowly. I'm almost at 1 year and I'm much more comfortable and confident having sex as compared to the months immediately after surgery. Not entirely back to pre-surgery levels, but close enough it's fun again. I'm not a medical professional so I really don't know, but I don't think I'd have made this progress if I hadn't been working at it. Best wishes. Here's a video I found very informative, hopeful, and useful to me:

THANKS Retiredguy *high five !!! I was hoping that you would post this again : ))) since it is so informative and answers to many questions that are repeated over and over again here. I was thinking just this morning about sending you a PM. Thanks also for sharing your experience.

@retiredguy Thanks for posting this! I've had a similar experience with recovering my sex life. I'm 4 years after RP surgery so I'm trying to remember the actual timing (my times may be off slightly). The good news is nerve healing did happen over time, and I now have a good enough erection for penetration without any medication. For the 1st year I was on daily Cialis, did pelvic floor exercises, and used a penis vacuum pump. I was also prescribed Viagra to use when wanting to have sex. About 6 months after surgery, using the pump and Viagra made my penis firm enough for penetration, but it didn't feel very stimulating - kind of just dull sensation. Around 2 years things improved rapidly to where I stopped using the pump, stopped taking daily Cialis and stopped using Viagra. Our sex life is not 100% back to pre-surgery (having an erection takes a little longer), but it is satisfying for both of us, and can be totally spontaneous. Regarding incontinence, I still have some urine leakage after drinking caffeine or alcohol, but it's not noticeable and I don't wear a pad. I don't have any issues leaking at night anymore either. Have patience and good luck with your recoveries!

Hi everyone, it’s been almost five months since my surgery to remove prostate cancer. I am having ED issues and right now I am taking generic ed medication. But my urologist has recommended I try vacuum pump. Is there any vacuum pump that has worked well at a reasonable price? What should i look for in terms of ease of use, etc? Hope I am not asking a question that have been answered before. Thanks gentlemen.
