I'm sorry I did not make it clear, but I am going to try PT here in TN first. If no help, I will go to MN. My muscles and tendons are totally stretched from the THR, I am on a walker all the time. My surgery was May 2016. ridiculous. I will keep you posted on what they tell me tomorrow. You keep me posted. Thanks
Yes. I'll keep you posted as well. I meant to also say we travelled to Mayo, Rochester MN in Dec. 2010 , stayed for 3 1/2 weeks for testing and surgery with Dr. Eric Dozois. My husband had gastrointestinal surgery. Colon removed. The most excellent testing, care and outcome at Mayo!!
Hi Amber, I understood what you wrote. Sorry I wan't clear in what I wrote! PT tomorrow and then maybe Mayo. Gail
I pray that I will have fabulous luck with my therapist. I am driving an hour to get to her. She has been highly recommended. I pray she will be able to help. Will keep all of you posted. Thank you.
@amber67 Yes, we are looking forward to hearing how this therapy works for you. Teresa
Thanks, @gailfaith, what great info for anyone traveling to Mayo! I appreciate all of the details. It sounds like there is a lot of support for people traveling to Mayo in MN. Teresa
I went to the physical therapist Tuesday. It was an exciting experience. The thigh bones around the stem of the hip replacement is so thin thus causing so much pain when I try to walk, therefore, I stay on a cane and a walker. The therapist will start with baby steps to strengthen that muscle and hopefully the bones But because of the overstretched muscles and tendons, the surgeon stretched my leg. The therapist tried this new technique called dry needling. It is similar to acupuncture but seemed a lot different as far is going deeper into the Trigger point. She needled the hip area and thigh area I go back next week and will give you a weather report. All I can tell you is that when I walked out the pain had definitely subsided. This lessening of the pain has lasted for two days now. She told me not to expect a miracle but if I get a days relief that is better than nothing and somewhat encouraging. I know this will be a long continuous process, but at least I saw a tad of improvement more than I have seen in the past few years. The dr has also suggested Prolia to help strengthen my bones to help strengthen them to continue to support this prosthesis in the thigh and to continue to support this prosthesis in the thigh. Hope this information helps some.
Thanks for the PT report! Interesting. Glad for you that what she did shows promise. @gailfraith
I have been going through this since aug 2016 . I fell and fractured my left hip and still on walker. Of course i am 82 yrs old. It left my leg shorter and i had a lift put on that shoe but cant walk any better. I can take a few steps but still limp and have pain. Dr has refeted me to pain clinic but am trying to wat until flu epodemic has passed since i also have copd. I have always been active and this is so hard. I hurt more standing then walking and pain has moved all up back to neck. Good luck to you all.
Dear Faith, I hear you---I, too, at 78 have been struggling with soreness/pain from Fibromyalgia OA, and injured lower back, and now the hips are aching. The Pain Clinic referral is a viable option for answers and solutions---and I understand the wariness about the Flu season and precautionary isolation. You might consider buying an ANTI-VIVAL MASK at the pharmacy and carrying SANITIZING SOLUTION/WIPES----so that you can complete that appointment with the pain physician ASAP. At our age, time is a significant factor to consider in dealing with our pressing problems---some things cannot be delayed too long.....................I hope my comments are of help. God Bless.
