I was on carb /fiber diet due to pancreatitis and was constipated a lot. But was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 and had to introduce fats back with Pancreatic Enzymes (to cut on carbs). Fats have increased the bile production and flow, which, in turn, helped with heavy constipation. Also, you can try a small dose of Ursodeoxycholic acid 30 minutes before the food instead of laxative (ONLY if you don't have gallstones tho).
Taking lactulose can also help with constipation if you don't have glucose problems.
You also have to introduce a quick jumps and runs after the meal for an hour to enhance bowel motility.

My problem is somewhat unique. I had cervical spine surgery, June of 2020. It was long surgery and when I woke up my bowels have never functioned. I mean never. Went through two years of testing to figure it out and not much for a diagnosis. They scheduled me for a total colectomy. Two weeks before, I cancelled . Again, I was scheduled and canceled deciding to live a life of laxatives.
The issue now is I’ve been doing this 5 years and not much works. My nightly and morning regimen is huge amounts along with a colonoscopy prep every two weeks. All meds and diets failed. I think my situation is so different it’s not diet or exercise or water that will he help me. My doctor thought my last resort is Mayo because if anyone can find a way they can and they might say the same thing, take it out.
