I had a partial mastectomy using oconoplastic techniques meaning they technically reconstructed that breast, and surgery for symmetry on the other side (mastoplexy). It was done all during the same surgery. 3 1/2 hour, outpatient. A nerve block was used so I had very a little pain afterwards. That evening I went for a long walk (through hallways of hotel & hospital, I traveled to cancer center).

The oncology surgeon removed the cancer, and then the plastic surgeon stepped in to reconstruct both. It did mean coordinating the doctors to be there, which the cancer center handled, but limited the choices of surgical dates.

I’d opt for this choice if I had to do it again. Heaven forbid!!!! 😬

Thank you so much for your reply!! That’s what I’m hoping for (to get it all done at once)! Both doctors are scheduled for mine I know he will do the reconstruction and I’m hoping the symmetry will be at the same time so I have one less surgery. That’s wonderful that you had little pain afterwards!! How long did you have to have your drains in?
