Many of us have seen nodules grow, but they aren't always cancer. Our lungs can react to many sources of irritation. Considering the size, 1.4 cm, your doctors are following up, first with the PET scan that you mentioned. Each scan and test can help to complete the picture of what the nodule may be. Take a deep breath, as finding more information can take some time.
Have they talked about doing a biopsy? Are you working with a pulmonologist?
