Nausea and low appetite a month after last radiation

I am 49 years old. Been on dialysis for 28 years now. Also have Chronic Liver Disease from Hep C which was successfully treated in 2017.

I was diagnosed with Stage 1-2 Esophageal Cancer (adenocarcinoma) with a tumour (17 mm X 15 mm X 22 mm). Endoscopic resection was attempted but due to severe bleeding, they had to give up.

I underwent 28 sessions of radiation therapy (50.4 Gy). The last session was on April 30. No chemo for me, they say, due to the other comorbidities.

About a month after the last session, I started experiencing nausea and a low appetite. I am eating small meals now and have lost about 0.7 kg weight in about 10 days. I have also been put on Domperidone 10 mg once daily. With this the nausea is controlled.

Is it common to experience these symptoms a month after radiation is completed? How long does it usually last?

Hi asapienlessordinary
I had EC with chemo and radiation treatment. I was coughing, nausea, and very tired which lasted about a month after end of treatment. I had a feeding tube for a few months during treatment as I did not eat and lost about 15 pounds. I hope your symptoms stop soon. Did you have a feeding tube?

Hi Don, no I did not have a feeding tube. I did not have any symptoms during the treatment (except the last few days when I had slight difficulty swallowing which was addressed partly by a syrup). I began having nausea and a low appetite only about a month after treatment. Thanks!
