Hi, @january10. I'm sorry to hear this has all been very traumatic. I can only imagine with your colon opening up and exploding, and you almost dying.

One of my aunts did die from that very thing, so I appreciate the seriousness. A part of her colon opened up during a surgery, causing toxins to spread all over. She was 44. The context for my aunt, though, was that she had been anorexic, which had severely weakened many parts of her body.

Sounds like you had open surgery and a longish recovery. But, it's great to hear that you have no more diverticulitis and you are as regular as a 20-year-old.

I recognize you really had no choice about having this operation. I'm curious, though, if at this point you are glad you had the diverticulitis surgery? Would you suggest it to others?
