Did CIGNA give a reason for denial? If not clear on the EOB, call the number on back of insurance card and ask for more clarification. Then ask about appeal process. I have found sometimes it is how order and what you diagnosis is in medical records are. I had thyroid tests denied till had provider change diagnosis code for thyroid disease in my medical records. Did not falsify records. just there are many codes for thyroid disease and we picked one that insurance accepted for blood work.
As far as having the test done locally or waiting for Mayo, I would do locally if approved by insurance and have results sent. As long as they are good quality Mayo should not ask you to repeat. You can always call Mayo and ask to talk to Internal Medicine and ask there opinion.
I once did colon prep in hotel room, but I was not sharing a room. Hope the adjoining room could not hear the toilet flushing all night.
Hope you find your answerers for your son.
Now it is sounding like labs were denied because they were from January (appt with GI was in Feb) and they need newer ones. I’m just going to have to call the G.I. office on Monday and figure out what is happening. Would have been nice for someone to tell me this by now! Procedure was originally scheduled for April, but his health could not have handled the prep, so we delayed until June.
