changes in penis appearance

Posted by postprostatectomy77 @postprostatectomy77, May 16 9:46am

has anyone experienced a lot of thick fleshy penis shaft skin, a wide shaft, and the skin covering the glans, hanging down making it so difficult to stand and urinate ?

Right after my RARP my penis shrunk and my scrotum swelled to about 3-4 times. After the cath came out my scrotum quickly returned to normal and my penis has returned to almost normal size. But I have some extra skin now and like almost everyone that has posted I look uncut. For me it's not a big deal. I have noticed that this changes throughout the day.

yup My penis got much wider and the extra shaft skin loose and fleshy hangs over my glans, my scrotum never swelled, my testicles shrank to a big marble and my scrotum is long loose and fleshy, I call it 3P " post prostatectomy penis" I've never seen anyone else's penis and scrotum to compare, might be more or less pronounced

You are very welcome :). Are you doing Kegel exercises and some for core strengthening ? Some members had good results with those. If your surgery was recent than try not to overexert yourself with other activities especially if your incontinence is more pronounced as day progresses. How long ago was your surgery, if you do not mind me asking ?

Those are great news Jay ! Try to remember that you are "fresh off the surgery table" ;), and that "things" will need many weeks to settle down, heal connect and reconnect ; ). There is probably still a lot of swelling inside the body and things will continue to "rearrange" for a while, so it all can only get better and better as time passes.

It seems every body that has posted about penis and scrotum changes experience different looks , be honest, would anyone want to see what someone else's looks like to compare , and feel better about your self image, images cant be posted here, but personal email can be used, its difficult explaining to my doctor about what it was like and what other people have encountered and will my changes change or be worse as I go along

I understand that you are very frustrated but I do not think that public solicitation for photos of genitals is appropriate.

At the end, it does not matter how somebody else's changes look like , it is about changes that you have and due to them have real issues. Maybe the urologist is not a right person to talk about self- image issues since he is not trained to deal with that nor knows how to help you. I am saying this in completely well-meaning way. In what way looking at somebody's else changes can make you feel better or worse ? If somebody else's changes make you feel better you have a very real and different problem that needs to be addressed.

Hi Phil :),
My hubby is having TRUS tomorrow as a preparation for RP in mid August. He is doing kegel and core exercises in the meantime and I am trying to learn as much as possible about recovery of the "equipment" in post RP period. Thanks so much for asking < 3. I will make separate thread when we head to surgery because I will need a lot of encouragement and support, unlike my hubby XP who just needs mine ;).

I just had RP on 5/22. Worst part for me was the catheter and I only had it for 6 days. Good luck!!!
