← Return to After "recovering" from PMR, still decreased strength/stamina

I can relate to the original comment. I was diagnosed with PMR a little over two years ago. Up to that point had been very fit and healthy for my age. PMR really set me back, though I do think my baseline of health meant some of my symptoms weren't as severe as many others I read about. I just tapered to .5 mg of prednisone, and had a blood test the other day which shows my inflammation markers are well in the normal range which is good news. But my stamina has not recovered. I still keep very active, but can only do about 50% – 75% of what I used to do. I feel tired all the time. My rheumatologist doesn't want to check cortisol levels until I'm totally off prednisone. I was hoping by this point, being on such a low dose of prednisone, that I might be getting back to normal, but many other comments I read on this site lead me to think otherwise. I feel the loss of my energy and vitality.

It's been so helpful to read the posts and comments. I've learned so much from this group.

It does sound like you could have some adrenal insufficiency. At such a low level of 0.5 mg I'm surprised that your adrenal function can't be checked. It should have started to kick back in around 5 mg, so should be measurable to see if it's functioning well.
