how to make walking easier with stiffness behind knee?

I've had a lot of stiffness behind my knee for about a week already, and it's very hard to walk. I live in a 2 storey house, so it's been a real challenge. My doctor has already ruled out any serious medical condition. I don't lead the most active lifestyle, so we both agreed my lack of physical activity has contributed to this. I'm wondering what makes walking around easier for you when you have stiffness behind the knee? I've tried using Google to search up ways to make walking easier, but there's so much information, it's hard to keep up. I'm also starting physiotherapy this week. I'm hoping this helps relieve some of the stiffness. Does anyone have any experience with physiotherapy for their stiffness? I've never done physiotherapy before, so I'm unsure about how it works.

Thank you for reading this, and for any helpful responses!!

Best thing for you to do at home is stretch. You need to stretch those hamstrings every single day at least twice a day. There are several ways to do that. Goggle different approaches. The best way I found is to use a chair while standing , put one leg up and stretch your arm down to the toes keeping that leg straight. Then you can move your ankle back and forth while keeping that leg straight and toes pointed up. Do for a minimum of 40 seconds to start and repeat with other leg. Or you can do standing up and leaning on a chair or wall for support. Stretching is imperative for all your muscles every day and your physiotherapist will show you how.
Once you finish physiotherapy, do those exercises religiously. You will be surprised how much better you will feel everywhere and it’s also important for balance maintenance.

Good luck

Yes some bending exercises you can do from your bed I lay on your back and bring your knee up. Keep one leg straight bring your knee up so far you can bend it don’t force it you do that like 10 times on each leg twice like 20 reps, then do leg rises . Do these 2x a day am/pm. You can google these exercises under exercises for bakers cyst or knee pain. Good luck
