@nana1972. This is excellent news! I’m so happy to hear that you saw a radiation oncologist who was patient, allowed you to ask all of your questions, and provided the reassurance you needed to go ahead with the brachytherapy. As I wrote to you earlier, I had both external pelvic radiation and two sessions of brachytherapy and I had a hip replacement prior to these treatments. I am now 3 years out from the radiation treatments and still do not notice any effects on my hip.

Will you please come back to this Discussion and let me know about your simulation and then your treatments?

Good evening, Helen. I wanted to update that the simulation appointment went well. The radiologist had no problem placing the internal tattoos or the applicator. It was pressure but no pain at all. The Ct scan was easy also. I had my first treatment today. To say I was terrified would be an understatement. My anxiety was crazy but the nurse, the radiologist and the physicist were amazing and so patient and reassuring. My diaphragmatic breathing and tons of lavender oil really helped me to relax and be perfectly still throughout the treatment. Jesus was there with me all the way and I could feel my family’s prayers all around me. Two more treatments to go and I feel so blessed.
