Travel to Mayo, Rochester ?
Hello - I will be traveling from New Jersey to Mayo Rochester next month for my first visit and am looking for recommendations for shuttle service/ground transportation from Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport to Mayo Rochester. I see Groome shuttle may have service - is that the best option or are there others? I prefer not to rent a car for this trip.
I am also looking for a list of reasonably priced hotels near the campus with free shuttle to Mayo (or that are in walking distance if any?) that also have free cancelation and/or flexible policies if something comes up and changes are necessary? With the way things are flying out of Newark Airport right now, I am looking for lodging and transportation options that are as flexible as possible.
I will be going to the lab and radiology in the Charlton Building and then the next day to Urology in the Gonda Building if that helps with any recommendations.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

@amarck65 Congratulations on becoming a Mayo patient. I was very impressed with my visits to Mayo and you'll find it's different than most health care centers. Here is a link to information on the free Mayo Concierge service. They can help you find accommodation and travel recommendations. They have a list of hotels with details on what they provide. There may be Amtrack service that can take you to Minnesota. Most hotels have free shuttles to the Mayo buildings, and Mayo has a shuttle between Hospital locations in case that is necessary. The Charlton building and Gonda buildings are close together in walking distance from each other. You may also see falcons while you are there because there is a Falcon nest box on top of the Mayo building (joined with Gonda) with2 chicks who will soon within about a month start flying. There is a dialysis on a lower level at the Mayo building about the falcons. Also directly across from it is the beautiful Plummer building with brass doors full of carved figures. The original offices of the Mayo brothers are in that building on the 2nd floor where you can see them during business hours. On top, a bell carillon that you will hear playing music.

Thank you so much taking time to reply and for all of the great information!! I will look into the concierge service and will definitely look out for the falcons!!
@amarck65 These are peregrine falcons that nest every year on top of the Mayo building. There is a video of the nest at the Subway level just in front of the entrance to the cafeteria. If you’d like to watch the nest from your own computer here is the link:

I was really happy with Rochester Shuttle Service
Hi. I'm also looking to go from NJ. Did you get in based on applying through internal medicine (they turned me down) or through a specific clinic?
I used the travel services department to book my flight/shuttle/hotel (traveling to Rochester from Boston) and they were IMMENSELY helpful. I highly recommend!! They listened to all my preferences re: distance from appointments, price ranges, etc. It was also really important to me to get fully refundable/change-able airfare and they helped with that too.
Thank you so much! I am going to call them this afternoon!!
