Hello, 56 yr old here—I recently went thru a right sided si jt fusion in 11-24 and been healing ok- had the left si jt fused a few wks ago-left side is healing well but now have severe right sided hip pain- lateral aspect and radiates into the right si jt…..did you find any relief or treatments that have helped you ? - backround info- had anterior L4-S1 fused with hardware, have posterior L 2- S1 fusion with rods, they had to go back in and remove the L2 rods and screws- —2 screws came loose and fractured L2.

@kbakermri Welcome to Connect. I'm sorry you are going through all of this and some tough surgeries. Hopefully others with similar experience with join the conversation.

Hi, first I'm so sorry you're going thru this pain. In 2023, I had L5 S1 fusion with 4 pins, screws, and a cage. I did well about 8 months after surgery, but now have severe neuropathy in both feet, hip pain, back pain, and sharp stabbing pain on left side of l5 near cage. Had mri and bone is not fusing. I also have osteoporosis. I started Fosamax, more PT, exercise, walk, elliptical, increased protein, take calcium, d3 k2 and magnesium. I do not want a revision surgery. I'm going to an orthopedic surgeon and see what his opinion is for a bone graft, not total revision. I use heat to help with pain too. And lidocaine. This surgery destroyed my life. You said that you had your rodss removed, did they replace them or no? I wish you well.

Hello, sorry to read you are having hip issues post SI joint fusion. I am 59 and am just over one year post SI joint fusion on the right and 9 mos on the left. I too am experiencing more and more right hip pain that radiates to or from the SI joint. It seems to get worse as time progresses and it doesn't seem that anyone can offer relief. I have a neuro-stimulator implanted but that is mostly for leg pain and does not help with SI joint or hip pain. I am getting ready to try the stem cell route next in an effort to find pain relief. Please let me know if you have found anything at all that gives you relief. About the only thing that works for me is ice - but you can't ice 24 hours/day.
