I had nasopharyngeal cancer treatment in 2006, and I was ok in speech and swallowing. But in mid 2020 - I had problems with speech (not able to form words - slurring), and with swallowing. It was then that I was diagnosed with severe neck fibrosis
My oncologist, medical teams, and my doctor from Late Effects of Radiation did not refer me for botox treatments (it's only lately from this website that I am aware of botox to assist in severe neck fibrosis).
Does one require a referral from family doctor? Thanks.

I got referred by my oncologist.

Yes you will need a referral to see a neurologist that uses Botox.
Don’t go to a plastic surgeon the neurologist will know where to inject the Botox and they know how to word their medical reports for your insurance.
Botox is once every three months and as for me I’m on Medicare and the copayment is $250.00 per visit.
My primary physician referred me to the migraine specialist who happens to be a PA and her husband is a neurosurgeon.
Hope this helps
