Forteo
Hi
I would like to know how people are doing on Forteo.
I am supposed to start this medication this yr. I have been on reclast for 3 yrs. I recently fractured again 1 yr after bc radiation spine t9 t10.
Just nervous about doing this medication after having cancer.

It is orally.
I did about two months of teraparatide (generic Forteo) earlier this year but could not tolerate it (joint pain, bloating, constipation). Many people do fine on it, though.
I did Tymlos for four months before that and had similar side effects but not as severe as Forteo).
I just started on Evenity and had my first shot four days ago. I am glad I had an opportunity to try another anabolic medication because I think they are critical if you've had a fracture and have low T-scores.
Hi
Oh, man. That worries me because I'm so sensitive to medication. And I need this forteo badly. I am in canada so they don't offer tymlos. I cannot take evenity because I had a tia. Hope you can tolerate the evenity
I am very sensitive to all medications. Most people can probably tolerate these osteoporosis medications, but I have trouble. I was on a half dose of Tymlos for 9 months, then I saw a new Endo who put me on Forteo. I have now been on it for 6 months. I take it before bed. It didn't really bother me at first, but the last month or so, I have noticed extra pain, especially in my legs, fatigue and brain fog. I just don't have enough energy to accomplish what I need to. I also have trouble sleeping, since I have to urinate 2-3 times a night. There is a diuretic in Forteo. The brain fog is concerning because my mother had Dementia. My Endo PA wanted me to try to take it during the day. I tried it after dinner and just felt extra tired and a little nauseous. I tried it after breakfast and felt sort of sick all day with fatigue and nausea. The yuck feeling lasted 9 hours. So I still take it at bed time. I will ask to go back on half a dose of Tymlos which didn't seem to bother me. I couldn't tolerate any more than half a dose.
Me, too!
Hi
Are you going on it too
So far, so good. I had my first injection of Evenity last Friday and other than two sore arms where they injected the medication I have had no side effects. Even if I do, I am going to try to stick with it for a year because it’s my last option for an anabolic.
I hope the Forteo works for you. I am not medication sensitive (took Fosamax for over five years without issue) so it was a bit of a surprise. I do have high calcium levels in my urine so I think it’s possible the side effects were due to increased serum calcium.
Do you know that Prolia can cause atypical femur fractures. It is a known side effect.
Hi
I wish I could do evenity but I had a tia 6 yrs ago so i don't qualify for evenity. I am in Canada, so the only 2 they offer is evenity or forteo. Tymlos is not approved here yet
Yes, I knew that. This was not as the result of Prolia.
