I forgot the mention that I’ve been on steroid inhalers —for asthma and rhinitis—for the last 35 years. I’m going to ask if I can go on Montelukast, instead, and use a rescue inhaler when necessary. My grandson just eradicated all of his asthma, except when he has a cold, with Montelukast.

That’s interesting. I am asthmatic as well and stopped using my daily inhaler due to the steroids. I will check out Montelukast. Thank you for the tip!!

Steroids in inhalers with fluticisone are absorbed by the body. I was doing a long prednisone taper(polymyalgia rheumatica) and was put on Arnuity( fluticisone) 200mcg for my asthma and my former moon face returned.(!). We lowered the dose to 100mcg and I feel it: fatigue and weakness with the reduction. Symbicort/Breyna (budesonide) is less absorbed but needs a 2x day dosing. I am also using strontium citrate with my primary doc- geriatrician and endocrinologist approval.
