Is that for treatment meds?? First off, since you have not had the sample results back yet, they may not know exactly which ones are best targeted for you. However, if you quoted that, who gave you the information, for instance the hospital has financial assistance programs for their bills and Drug companies have financial assistance. I hope that you are seeing a team, which includes a social worker, who may also have access to the hospitals' financial coordinators that assist in addressing affordability issues. But please, do bring that up the mds should typically refer you to the appropriate person for affordability issues, also in our team there is a pharmacist who access the drug enrollment programs. I was concerned because prior to this episode we had the cheapest medicare part d, since we did not have alot prescriptions, however they found out that if that went with the company our insurance preferred the med was quite affordable ( $50.00 monthly) vs the original $3,000 in an out of network pharmacy. Don't try to navigate this on your own, speak up and let them know you need help. If they don't then the drug company does have financial programs that you can contact directly. Good luck, please feel free to dm me, i was in professional life a dialysis sw, so i am somewhat savvy re; how to find resources, at least that you can explore if they fit for you. Also i forgot there is the American Cancer society.
