Pressures to change/eliminate transgender care.

I am very concerned with the recent guidance released by the Attorney General. It is filled with misinformation, targets pharmaceutical companies who produce hormones, and orders the government to remove all data and references to WPATH standards. While I live in a relatively safe state (Minnesota), the pressure against insurance providers, drug manufacturers, and medical providers such as Mayo (also headquartered in MN) will have an impact on my care and the care of people in my community.

I hope Mayo is doing everything they can to protect us... and I hope it is enough.

My 9-year-old child is currently socially transitioning. We are worried about this as well. While there certainly has been strides in recent years to bring visibility to trans rights and acceptance, there is also a great deal of rejection, attacks, and legislative action to unnecessarily demonize the community. Although I have always considered myself to be an ally to the LGBTQ community, now that it is intimately affecting me as a parent, I will continue to do what I can to advocate, educate and resist the attacks on those of you living your authentic lives and their loved ones.
