Shaken to the core is a good description! I’m 71 and got diagnosed with a 4.7 ascending aneurysm. I don’t even know how to spell it! Trying to learn more too, I’m glad I have good insurance and time to make a plan.

No need for you to panic. Just make sure you are followed by a cardiothoracic surgeon with CT scans every 6 months/one year. It is only when it reaches >5 that you need to be concerned. However that said , parting from the conclusion that you are not a smoker, or have high blood pressure or any other risks factors that they may consider elective surgery sooner. Some other risk factors are being female and short stature. Although studies say that having a BAV (bicuspid aortic valve) does not increase the risk of rupture , they need to know, so when, and if ,you need surgery, they see the need to replace the valve also.
