Hi Archie: Jeff here. Sorry for the late reply. I have had a Medtronic Pain Pump since 2006. This is my fourth one. I’m fused L3 to L5 have rods and dowels between disk. I started out with back pain and burning right leg pain and some in my foot. Could not take it. Surgeons got in there and one did not help at all. He did not do what he said he was going to do. Once he got in there he had a ticket to ride. Was only going to do one disc. Did 3 disc with steel. I was worse. Went to another Surgeon that said he has all that wait on your bottom disc. We need to take it all out and do the bottom disc and use titanium, that’s your problem. I was worse. He even went through my stomach and back. Messed me up sexually too. I should have sued but was in a world of hurt. All that surgery was 2021 through 2024. Then along came the pump. They used morphine, clonidine and bupivacaine. My legs were so weak I couldn’t not walk. They then said morphine can cause a growth called Granuloma so they went to Fentanyl. Said you can’t get it from Fentanyl. They keep raising me and lowering me. They would tell me it was on the high side so I lowered it and complained about to much pain. They kept doing shots through the years. I began to feel like I was in there as a Guinea Pig. Spin shots. Hip shots. Intel I said no more shots. Then they stared on this Methadone after pump change 6 months ago and keep calling me in to raise the pump. Now my right leg and hip burns all the way down and foot, groin, and toes feel like there on the grill. Right side sciatic nerve pain also. Never before did I have left leg pain and now fells as bad as right along with toes. I never get to talk to Doctor unless I get a shot only Pa that fills my pump. He first said I can’t go back on fentanyl now he says I can. I don’t know what to do. Doctors don’t want to do another surgery because of pain pump. I’m 70 and don’t know if I should risk one. Another doctor started me out on oxycodone 5 mg. Then after 10 years put me on a 10mg. After over 15 years not enough put me 15 every 8 hours. They only take the edge off for six hours. I lay in bed and suffer. I think maybe I should ask for Dilaudid. After all this time I fell like I am in the lost but not found. Did you have nerve pain before Dilaudid???Thank you for your time. Hope you have a Great weekend. Need your impute. Thank you. Jeff
Hi Archie:
I have called it in and I am taking your advice. Dilaudid will be put in my pump June 17. I sure hope I get the break I am looking for. It’s a shame that can’t just fix you. Thanks very much for your input. Jeff
I've read too many horror stories to try it
