Wow! We have almost the same exact allergies. I have the sulfate allergies and the only antibiotics I can take are Cephalosporins.
I have asthma and am also an RN, trying to retire. Yes, my neurosurgeon has a pain management physician on staff and I've seen her a few times, but we're both frustrated because she keeps trying meds on me and I keep having reactions to them or they don't help at all. I've been in pain daily for 18 months, but this last month has been really bad. It's like my body is saying "enough already, you've pushed yourself way past your limits". I'm as ready for this surgery as I can be, but no one in their right mind can look forward to it. Even as a RN, the 20 pages of prep, side effects and consents booklet was almost enough to crawl away as fast as I could.
What is your lymphedema from?

I was diagnosed with
Severe axonal sensorimotor peripheral polyneuropathy
Small fiber neuropathy
Cardiac autonomic neuropathy- CAN
Dysautonomia
Seizures- from the autoimmune and dysautonomia
Migraines- from mrsa bacterial spinal meningitis
Autoimmune Disorders
Sjogrens
Lupus
Hashimotos

My neuropathy affects the blood flow into my legs. The cardiac problems pericardial effusion from my autoimmune disorder
CAN causes. Arrhythmias unstable blood pressure too high or too low. My normal heart 120/70 for two weeks jumped 160/110 ; then fell immediately to 96/60. I krpt passing out.
I can understand you’re scared. All the things that can go wrong. Did you ask questions like how many of these have you done, have you ever accidentally cut the aortas it extends further than you think in your body. I am bringing that up because I saw it done the patient ended up in ICU for two weeks. They had to call in a cardiac surgeon during surgery to close up the tear.
Scared the daylights out of me. It happened during my clinical rotation. This is a major surgery going through the anterior. The only reason I agreed to mine is because it wasn’t anterior. Yes, there were possible side effects with mine. That I had to read through that scares the heevy jeebies out of you. I will keep you in my prayers for a safe surgery and speedy recovery.
This is going to sound strange the only pain meds I can take is oxycodone- made by kvk tech allergic to other brands of oxycodone. My neurologist tried to find me something. He tried different manufacturers with different ingredients. It was a long journey hydrocodone- hallucinations scared my family I was yelling and scared; morphine- turned purple quit breathing in the hospital told them not to give me anything with sulfates they didn’t listen.
Fentanyl- makes you very emotional my crying and additional pain nausea, vomiting
My preference in Demerol but they don’t like using it hard on the body.
My other preference toradol - it’s used fir pain but is considered an anti inflammatory doesn’t make you high does make some people sleepy.
