EPI and Crohn’s Disease

Posted by rdschicago @rdschicago, 6 days ago

Anyone have EPI which probably originated from Crohn’s and three previous small bowel resections over a 22 year period? Creon has helped the diarrhea tremendously, but I have awful gas every day starting early afternoon until bedtime, and wanted to see if anyone has similar symptoms and what has given them relief for the gas symptoms. The only advice I’ve received is to eat small meals six times per day.

I have chronic pancreatitis and EPI. Diet makes a huge difference in pain levels There is a ton of information on the internet about this. Good luck to you

Hi @rdschicago You have been dealing with this for a long time. I am so sorry.

I did a search at the top of the home page that didn’t yield anything. You most likely have already done that. Creon may be a good resource for you. I notice on their website they mention a support program that includes appropriate supplements. It may be worth learning about: https://www.creoninfo.com/diet-and-lifestyle

Do the small, frequent meals help with anything?

Hi Janell,

Smaller frequent meals definitely help. It’s a bit cumbersome to plan so many meals each day, but smaller quantities seem to minimize the gassy symptoms.

Oh, @rdschicago I totally understand that. It feels like you are always eating!

Maybe the program Creon has available will help alleviate some of what you are dealing with.
