I am relieved to be reading these posts. I am 3 months post op TKR and so discouraged. It doesn't matter how much I exercise and walk, I wake up everyday with the same amount of stiffness and pain. No one prepared me for how difficult this recovery would be, especially the doctors and nurses. It would have been so nice prior to the surgery if they had talked about what is normal and what isn't post surgery. So regretting this surgery.

I am SO in agreement with you about Mayo docs and nurses failing to fully disclose the potential serious pain and swelling that can accompany TKA. I ended up in the ER twice in the fist two weeks, and a month after surgery they are balking at providing additional steroids that were able to get the swelling and pain under control. I sincerely hope that in the long run the quality of the surgery is far better than the paucity of information provided before it.

Hang in there! This is a long process. I'm 10 months post op LTKR and started feeling positive about 2 months ago. I needed to realize that I couldn't rush things and everyone heals differently. There was a lot of banging and cutting during surgery. Not to mention the brand new replacement parts you're getting accustomed to. Keep the knee moving but I've learned to back off if the pain is too much. Best of luck!
