One month prior to SBRT treatment I started Lupron six month injections x2. My total Testosterone dropped to 10 and stayed that way until nine months after the last injection. PSA dropped to undetectable and remained so for the duration of Lupron therapy. The six month injection was advantageous for me as I was treated at Mayo in Phoenix, but lived in California. Clinically, I wonder about the rationale for monthly versus every three month or six month injections using the Longer acting form of Lupron.

My psa has gone down to .03 now. I have hot flashes but ok for most part. I will continue on monthly until psa starts back up.

I was getting Lupron shots every six months for seven years. Also getting testosterone tests for most of that time. I never had any side effects from the Lupron shot, Pressing right where it went in might be slightly painful, that’s about it for me.

Some people say get the three months shot instead of the six month shot because the six-month shot can fade for some people in the very end, and their Testosterone could rise. I know that for me that was not true.

It’s not a longer acting form of Lupron, They give you more Lupron, you get double what you get in a three month shot in a six month shot. It’s that simple, just more volume.
