Arthritis??

Posted by tonit @tonit, May 19 9:59am

I have been told I likely have arthritis, but I have so much pain right now I don't even want to get out of bed. My hands, hips, right knee and right foot hurt constantly. I have been using ibuprofen, but it doesn't help much. Anyone else have arthritis start like this?

I've been dealing with osteoarthritis in my left knee for almost 40 years. It began with several sports injuries to it growing up, but none of them were serious enough to need surgery. My family has a history of osteoarthritis, so it was going to happen anyway.
Now, at the age of 66, I've been retired on SSDI for almost 10 years due to arthritis in my knees, hips, lower back, neck, hands, and right elbow. I've had knee surgery 5 times, 1 elbow surgery, and 2 procedures in my neck. I also have neuropathy in my feet, so everyday is a physical and mental struggle.
Try taking Alleve for your arthritis pain, it's the only OTC med that helps me when I'm having a really bad day.

I have osteoarthritis in my lumbar, left shoulder, right knee and hands. Like you a few really bad falls off of a 12 ft ladder cutting tree limbs( I’m a woman)and two bad car accidents. I’m not so adventurous in my older age! No broken bones but the compression and jilting to the joints caused irregularities in the bone shape and structure while healing I am also 65 with history of osteoarthritis in my family. All said I take fish oil, sea buckthorn oil, boswellia, ginger, hyaluronic acid and osteo biflex daily. I have a sensitive slow gut so I can’t take pain meds. God protecting me from becoming a drug addict, LOL! I take prescription of Celebrex 100 mg and Neurontin 100 mg daily. Both very low doses. I take them one hour after a small breakfast. I know you shouldn’t take anti inflammatory drugs on an empty stomach but I have an issue with slow peristalsis so my stomach has a
Little food in it when I take it. I also use Voltaren arthritis cream am and pm on my thumbs which are really bad. I’ve already hand the left thumb bone removed and in its place a tendon so I can move it but the pain is still so bad at times. I also drive with a heating pad on low heat to my lumbar and I plug the heating pad into my cigarette lighter hole. I don’t smoke. I also have hand heating pads and other for my back when it gets bad. If I’ve done housework or a little yard work I have to use ice later. You need to limit white bread and chips and processed foods. I use Ezekiel bread and brown rice. I eat meat, vegetables and fruit and once per week cook beans of some kind. I walk and gentle stretch daily. Maintain a decent weight.. I cheat once per week on Saturdays , example for dinner had a large brownie with Ice cream and for lunch had a small hamburger on a home made white bun with fresh French fries. I would seek out a functional medicine Dr.; traditional Drs just want to heap on the prescription drugs which ALL have side effects. I make the best of it. I’m not wealthy to get the PRP injections where they take your own blood and extract the platelets which helps with healing. Not covered by the majority of health insurances and cost thousands of dollars. If you have the money go for it. It’s not a one and done. It may help, but be prepared to fork out a lot of money! Maybe one day it will be available to all. Read all you can about how to treat arthritis holistically and start there then do the minimal of prescription drugs if needed. Tylenol can damage your liver and ibuprofen can cause gastro intestinal bleeding throughout your GI tract and also damage your kidneys. People think since these are over the counter they can just pop these ad lib but that is dangerous! Also pray for God to heal you and trust that he will take care of you no matter what.

How long have you been suffering and how long ago did you get diagnosed? What type of doctor diagnosed you and what testing did they do? Were you prescribed anything beyond NSAIDs?

Have you tried Voltaren gel topically on joints that hurt?

Do you have any other symptoms beyond pain? How would you describe your pain?

You may want to see a rheumatologist and neurologist for evaluation and testing to see if there is more behind your joint pain. You may benefit from seeing a nutritionist/dietitian for review of diet and supplements to see if you can make diet/supplement changes to reduce inflammation throughout your body.

Yes! 30 years. Then I found Zazzee tart cherry capsules on Amazon from a recommendation here online. A total miracle. Turns out I was suffering from GOUT (I'm 68). It was IGNORED by ALL the arthritis doctors and testing. They are pretty "narrow" in what they look at. There is no GOUT doctor! I would show up with a body riddled with pain, and they'd look at an X-ray and say, "You have OA." "That is the way it presents." They were idiots - the lot of them. One doctor made me and another woman cry by saying, "Exercise more." (That is what GIVES you a sense of pain as your body produces MORE GOUT! It's a simple blood test to verify that your uric acid is high. (mine was out the roof). So I asked to be put on Allopurinol. Now my uric acid sits at exactly normal. (It only came in range with the tart cherry capsule. I don't get that all-over body flu-like pain in every joint, which stops me in my tracks! Only on my worst day, then I flush fluids and take a zzzap. I hope that is your problem, so you can solve it and feel human again. (I am still affected by weather change, but not as dramatically.) It was a true miracle for me after 30 years of suffering with every kind of misdiagnosis. Doctors can be great, but they can also be useless. give it a shot: https://www.amazon.com/Zazzee-Tart-Cherry-Gluten-Free-All-Natural/dp/B07CTKPKSX/ref=asc_df_B07CTKPKSX?mcid=95fa10f4719931a0b458de1dff02384a&hvocijid=14473849917434253190-B07CTKPKSX-&hvexpln=73&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=721245378154&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14473849917434253190&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014374&hvtargid=pla-2281435181898&psc=1
