This is a long time after your original post so I hope you see this. I read your story and it sounds just like me talking. I had ECT (which didn't help) but it has totally ruined my life. I'm a single mom raising kids and can't afford not to work, but I can't keep up with what I used to do prior to my ECT. I mess things up, I forget things, I can't remember simple instructions. I've been fired from 4 jobs now for job performance and I don't know what to do. I can't afford to live off disability and a part time job. My kids are active and play sports. Some days I can't even remember how to get them to school! My short term memory is a joke, and my long term memory is non existent. I don't even remember my kids when they were little. IT just breaks my heart. ECT is by far the worst decision of my life.
