Has anyone tried Ozone High Dose Therapy for Nerve Pain?

Posted by kallen1027 @kallen1027, Sep 6, 2019

A pain management clinic that I go to has recommended High Dose Ozone Therapy to cure my nerve pain. Has anyone tried this or have more information about it? I do not have much faith in this clinic since they constantly push expensive treatments and do not help with my medications. The therapy consists of taking out some of your blood, mixing in ozone, and replacing it. They claim it can cure all kinds of things like cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc. Insurance doesn't cover it and the FDA doesn't approve of it either.

Very helpful. Thanks. I've read most of that too. I have a theory, since all of the peripheral nerves in my foot are impossible to treat, one by one, but they all branch into a specific nerve. Why not find something, do something that can lessen the pain receptors in that specific nerve?

Side effects are not good. I would never try it

Hello? What was your experience with OZONE therapy for your neuropathy? I have chemically induced neuropathy and think that this might be a step in the right direction.

I have had 4 iv ozone treatments at a functional medicine clinic that employs Nurse practictioners and RNs, with a consulting MD. This clinic does not claim to cure any diseases. Do more research for reputable clinics. If they are promoting their products over medical treatment of your symptoms, move on.
After 4 treatments I am more energized and am no longer sleeping 12 hours a day. I sought treatment for inflammation, pain and fatigue. As for the neuropathy in my feet, the pain seems less. Time will tell.
FDA has not yet approved ozone treatment for most uses. Ozone had been used for over a century for wound care. As with all "new" treatments and off label uses, it takes time and studies before FDA approves and then the insurance market responds. Yes, each treatment can be $100-300, but I can justify that expense by less time off work, more energy, and reduced future medical costs. Personally, I will gladly give up other "wants" for having more energy alone.
BUT YOU NEED TO DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.

this may be of interest to you. Some naturopath, not very many tho, now use prolozone for injections in the knee. .....Some, use PRP, which is a very painful injection. some use prolotherapy, which, my dr., used, and even she said that is very painful...........Prolozone was created to also regenerate the knee in osteoporosis, and supposedly either not be painful, or at least less painful. painful, isn't just at the injection site, as in prp, from the books i read, pain could last for 2 or more weeks, but then, you most probably would need to back for another treatment. I do have bone density in my knees, and am considering trying prolozone. Just haven't done it yet. when it comes to injections in my knee.........i can't seem to make that phone call to do it.................if you type in on google, which is more painful, prp or prolozone, you will get a short explanation . However, some times, the AI, gets prolozone mixed up with prolotherapy...........hope this was sort of helpful

Hi. I had a total of 5 treatments 6 months ago & saw no change. I was also told by a diff doctor that this treatment is marketed as ‘ozone’ therapy but it is actually oxygen treatment. This DR said that water has to be added to oxygen to be ozone & putting that in our blood would kill us. Anyone know if this is true? Regardless…at least for me…it was a waste of $$$$…

@chrisself Hi Chris, Ozone has nothing to do with adding water. Oxygen in the air is chemically labeled O2 which means it naturally occurs as two atoms of oxygen linked together. If natural O2 is exposed to a high energy source such as strong ultraviolet light or a high voltage field then some of the molecules break apart and recombine to make O3 which is Ozone. It is not stable in this mode and will revert back to O2 within minutes or hours. That is why it is typically made in the office when needed using a high voltage machine. Ozone is toxic because it is a strong oxidizer but small amounts of it are used to stimulate the body to send anti-oxidants to the area affected which may help healing and does kill germs. In this mode it is a little like bleach but it dissapates rapidly and leaves nothing behind but oxygen, O2. (No chlorine involved!) So it is much safer than other oxidizers.

I have been using an ozone generator for years in my house. I think my blood gets a shot of extra ozone with every breath. It's nothing more than triple oxygen, which has an extra valence electron. It combines with other chemicals and odors in the air and reduces them to carbon dioxide and water, just like sunlight. I recommend it in moderation. The one I have now is a 3500 Pro from Soltek Air in CA. I paid $299 for it five years ago. I have no financial interest in the company. I don't think I would have an injection of so called "ozone" into my bloodstream.

Yes, I have just resumed IV ozone treatment as part of my alternative care for stage 4 cervical cancer. There are a couple of studies on pubmed showing benefits of this treatment for neuropathy. It’s too early to tell whether ozone is doing me any good but I’m going to keep at it.

I had PRP injection in my face and I thought I would die….. it was soooo painful and didn’t work. I totally agree.

Well, with all my books, newsletters, research,.........this is something new to me. We are always learning aren't we? What is the problem with your face? the Dr., suggesting you get PRP in your face, gives me the shivers. Perhaps, he/she, needs to go back for a little more schooling???
This is another of my...off the wall.......thing i have done. altho, a different part of body.
Bottoms of both feet were feeling best word i can think of is.......tight......or sort of like glue to make it tight and stiff. the first few months , I didn't think too much about it, thought it was a , silly me......passing phase. Then one day I thought.....what if it is part of what neuropathy feels like?.............soooo, here i go again. I've used magnets, NOT ones you buy in any store, for a few things over the last 25 years. So, I had some long plastiform magnets, which i sometimes use under my legs to help with blood flow......well, i cut 2 pieces to fit over aprx 1/2 of each foot. I have soft slippers, so I put the magnets in them, and sleep with them every night. After using them aprx 3 months, the tightness in my feet is about 90% gone. It , I guess is helping with, maybe the nerves in my foot?? Ok, I am only guessing........but what ever it is doing, has helped both feet quite a bit................about 25 yrs ago, I had a horrible painful ear. It was on a Friday night, so no Dr.s available . If I even lightly touched it, it was horrible pain.............I don't know why i didn't go to urgent care Saturday, for some reason I went to the emergency room at the hospital...........yes, it was a dumb thing...........But, while in the waiting room, I remembered I had a domino size magnet in my purse. I held it on my jaw line, a little below the ear, as magnets can draw fluids away from an infected site. 30 minutes later, when i actually saw the Dr., he asked me what my problem was...........I said, well, I don't think I need you any more. I told him about my ear, and showed him the magnet I was using. He said, hmm, I have heard about magnets........He looked in the ear, and said it was clear. . Magnets don't work for every thing of course, and I am NOT suggesting you use one, because I got mine from a Dr., who uses them on his patients, and who actually makes the different, types, strengths, and sizes. You can also do HARM, using them. I guess the point I am sort of trying to make, is to keep searching for an "out of the box" treatment for your problem. But, I am curious as to what your diagnosis is for the pain in your face...............good luck on your searches.
