I'll 80 next year. Yes, a friend who of similar to me told me that he lost his sense of smell a few years ago

The same article which I’ve already quoted said that when older people’s sense of touch diminishes, they tend to drop things more. I’ve noticed that in the last several years and attributed it to the stroke I had 8 years ago. But maybe not.
