More afraid of vomiting from chemo then my IDC
Hello everyone, I’m hoping you all can help calm my nerves. Very newly diagnosed with IDC-DCIS combined. Ki 67 score of 80%. At least 7 lymph nodes involved. I see the surgeon for the first time in two days. I have a severe phobia of vomiting; myself or watching others; and it’s crippling. I can’t even take care of my own daughter when she’s vomiting. My husband always takes care of it for me. So the idea of chemo causing me nausea and vomiting, to me, is worst then the cancer inside me. I NEED WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT PLEASE!!!

I had pretty rough chemo for triple negative breast cancer (red devil was one). Although I felt pretty bed and was fatigued, I never did vomit. You will probably receive anti nausea drugs.
Best wishes on your journey. One day all treatment will be behind you.

Thank you for your thoughts! Knowing there is a possibility that vomiting is not an always is comforting! I know this fear seems so ridiculous compared to the fear of having cancer, but for me, it’s one of my biggest concerns.
Good morning! When I went through AC / tax all chemo, I took the anti-nausea pills like candy. I too hate the thought of being nauseous or vomiting. I never, I repeat never, got sick to my stomach. I took two different types and I took them throughout the day about every few hours. I would hope your doctor will be prescribing those for you. If / when you get chemo they give you a huge dose during the infusion.
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’m surviving 20 years in December.
Anyway about vomiting I was exactly like you describe except with my kids.
Honestly I don’t think I vomited through Chemotherapy. I had very heavy doses and had to complete 5 different cycles.
The premeditation and steroids really helped and it wasn’t an issue for me. Trust me Ive had issues with my stomach and intestinal problems from the time I was born. I’ll keep you in my positive vibes.
Wishing you success.
I went through A/C and taxol, 14 weeks altogether. Don't overdo the anti-nausea medication or you'll get severely constipated. I know this from experience. Your doctor will probably add it to your chemo treatment which for me lasted the first two days. Then wait until you start to feel queasy but before seriously nauseous and take your pills as needed. In my case I had Zofran and something that started with a p. I only need them for a couple of days each week and not at all during Taxol. Again, it will depend on what your doctor puts in your IV mix. I never once vomited.
Good luck.
