Anyone else had a crash after a surgical procedure?

Posted by dawg @dawg, Jun 29, 2024

I’ve been using Visible app a couple weeks now and for 2 days running I’ve started the day with a 4 out of 5 rating indicating my body is trending toward in balance and that my pacing is good. I’ve had some 2/5 and 3/5 mornings and can feel the difference. Two days ago I had mohs surgery on my face (2 places for skin cancer). I was 4/5 that morning and 4/5 yesterday morning. When the numbing agent stopped working and pain kicked in , been using Tylenol, etc. Started really feeling it last night and this morning I’m a 1/5 and the app is warning me to really rest as I’m way out of balance. Feels close to a crash. My activity levels haven’t been much different over the past few days and I normally move around the house good, lots of stairs, normal bathing, cleaning up kitchen, etc. The fatigue is usually bearable as long as I don’t try and walk the dog, help vacuum (I do try to dust for my wife), etc., and if I take targeted rest periods. I believe the stress on my body from the surgery (42 hours ago) and perhaps my screwed up system getting upset my numbing agents etc. Anyone else out there had a crash or mini crash after a minor surgical procedure?

I am aa living with Long Post Covid Vaccine Syndrome. It’s been a year and my body is not what it used to be. I had a procedure 2weeks ago . The fatigue I felt was just like I had another vaccine. I’m scared of any drugs now. I have all the long Covid symptoms. Some have gotten better but others not so much. I’m sorry everyone has to go through this.I am very grateful for this sight. It has helped me cope.

How long did the fatigue last? I had a colonoscopy with no issues. I had a cracked tooth pulled and 2 days later I was exhausted. Today is the 7th day. Please let me know if you are better. I went back to the dentist and he cleaned up the extraction site today. He has no idea why I still have fatigue.

Yes, I had a foot surgery January 29 and my body still has not recovered from that and it is May 5. My neurologist told me that it was gonna make me flare worse than ever and he was right.

What symptoms do you have with your flare?

Extreme exhaustion, sleep over 10 hrs still tired, muscle pain and spasms, migraines again and I had got those down to maybe one maybe two a month now I’m having about 2 to 3 a week. My vision has gotten worse. Blood pooling in my hands and feet has gotten worse. My tachycardia has increased. My blood pressure has went back up and I know part of that is also due to me being in pain, but this is months out and it’s still going on. I’m on my way to my cardiologist now . extreme sweating with the slightest thing just sweating. It’s more symptoms too in the flare up. I’ve been keeping a log to show to my cardiologist, my neurologist and my primary care physician.

Hi. I have been living with Long Covid since early 2020. How were you and your doctors able to pinpoint your symptoms to the vaccine and not due to Covid? Curious because I have been wondering how many of my issues are from having Covid alpha variant in March 2020, and how much due to the vaccines I got after? I tend to attribute them to the Covid virus attacks on my body. My fiancé (who was sick at same time as I-same variant) attributes his to the vaccines. How are you doing now? Have you found relief?

Came here to ask the same question. Relieved to see that I am not alone. I had a colonoscopy 5 days ago and I still feel more extreme fatigue than my “new normal” and the aches and pains in my joints a bones have worsened again. The gastroenterologist said the whole procedure went well but she did remove several polyps for testing. I had an endoscopy same time. Anyone know why this makes recovery time worse?

Yep. I've had long Covid since late 2023. Just after Christmas 2024 I broke my wrist badly and had to have surgery to fix it. Before that, my pattern of symptoms tended to be on-and-off: I'd have a bad week and then a good one, or a bad few days and then a good week. Or a bad few days and a good few weeks!
Since the op my symptoms are constant: fatigue, headaches, migraine, aches and pains, breathlessness etc. The other thing that happened was that I was in Recovery for 3 hours because my BP spiked to 200 (I've never had blood pressure problems before, either post op, or in general)
I contracted a random virus last week, and now my BP is constantly elevated, and I've just started medication to lower it.
Before I had Covid, I was a healthy 64 year old with no underlying health problems.
