I just experienced a rupture of the mesenteric artery during a CT scan with contrast. I have Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

A large hematoma developed and grew to the size of an orange; it bled and continues to bleed.

I felt the hot sensation and large pop.

My vascular system became compromised during a laryngospasm, and I felt small ruptures in my chest. This brought me to the hospital.

I have had the event charted and the Alert placed on my charts. MRI only, no contrast.

Oh, that is disturbing! And frightening. I hope you make a full recovery!
When I mentioned to my cardiologist as to the possible toxicity of the contrast, he looked at me like I had three heads! Gosh, sometimes we are really on our own, aren’t we?
