I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Have you had chemo yet? Sounds like you will have 4 cycles. I’m stage IV lung cancer too. I had mets to the bone (pelvis, hips, spine, ribs, sternum, skull), liver, lymph nodes and brain. I was in 10/10 pain at rest from a bone met in my clavicle and sternum. I was miserable. Fortunately I had a really good response after just 1 session of chemo. Don’t get me wrong, that week after chemo was terrible, I couldn’t eat and lost 11 lbs. but my pain went away in about 10 days. Prior to that I had been on Gabapentin, oxycodone and methadone round the clock. I no longer take anything for pain. I’m done with my 4 cycles of Carboplatin and Pemetrexid (Also on daily a Tagrisso) and now on maintenance Pemetrexid infusions every 3 weeks. My oncologist has also started me on Zometa infusions every 3 months for my bones since the bony mets were so extensive.
A word of advice: be a squeaky wheel. Advocate for yourself. See if you can get the Palliative Care visit moved up. If not ask your PCP to prescribe something for pain until you see Palliative Care. I’m new to this group but have already found it very helpful. Please keep us posted.
