Has anyone had major foot pain caused by Lyrica?

Posted by artrobertson @artrobertson, 2 days ago

I’ve been taking it for a while now because of the neck injury I have that causes me daily pain in my whole upper body. The major feet pain is a new symptom. I go for another MRI to see if the neck has gotten worse and causing the feet pain but I don’t know. It’s very frustrating.

Hello @artrobertson, Welcome to Connect. Sorry to hear you have developed new symptoms following your neck injury. I have no medical training or experience but I wouldn't think that the Lyrica would cause the additional foot pain. While you wait for others to respond you might find it helpful to look through the comments from other members related to "foot pain +neck injury" - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/?search=foot+pain++%2Bneck+injury.

Hopefully you will get some answers at your upcoming appointment. When do you go in for your MRI?

I was recently prescribed Lyrica for back and knee pain. I have spinal stenosis and scoliosis . I took it for 6 days with no pain relief at all and also noticed my hand twitching. On the morning of the 7th day as I was getting out of bed, my legs (& arms) would not support me and I slid to the floor. First time that’s ever happened but after lying on the floor for 10 minutes I found enough strength to get up but immediately decided no more Lyrica! Have decided to continue with Tylenol and heating pad!

How did you injure your neck? What did your first MRI of your cervical spine show? Cervical spine issues can affect your body from the neck down to your feet.

You may have spinal cord/nerve root/nerve compression causing your symptoms. You may need surgery if physical therapy/spinal injections (steroid) don’t help. Spinal cord compression injury can cause permanent damage so treatment is needed sooner rather than later.

Hi, thank you for your response. 10 years ago I had 2 disks replaced in my neck. The one totally collapsed and causes flattening of my spinal cord. That is what caused my permanent torso pain everyday. I go Tuesday for a MRI to see if anything else has happened to be causing all my feet pain. It’s a relatively new symptom. It’s terrible daily pain.

Thank you for your comment. I go in Tuesday to get another MRI. At this point I hope something has happened that surgery could fix. It’s starting to affect my mental health but it is what it is. It’s scary what your brain can come up with

Thank you for your comment. I understand totally what you’re saying. Medicine doesn’t really help much but some does take the edge off.
