I was diagnosed and hospitalized for nonspecific colitis with severe diarrhea and dehydration rece.ntly. I have EPI and was on 36000 units of pancreatic enzymes for the lipase. Then developed vasculitis and took high dose steroids. Was on mesalamine for the colitis. That put everything into remission and now I am back to constipatiionn, my usual routine for all my life because of redundant colon. I can go over a week without BM. Terrrible! I’m off the mesalamine, dropped pancreatic enzymes in 3000 units twice daily and take miralax. Supposed to be on low fiber low fat diet but I miss the fiber! It’s all confusing to be going from one extreme to the other!

I don't know if I have a redundant colon but I will ask Dr. Miralax makes me really bloated and gassey. I agree. It's frustrating and painful. Can't even eat what I use to love. Colitis is the worst and very isolating.

It sounds like your gut microbiome may be in a very poor state. Have you heard of SBO (small bowel bacteria overgrowth) or leaky gut? There are many ways to diagnose and treat such a thing if you have it. A functional medicine Dr tends to be best with these issues but insurance dos not cover them. I listen to Dr Mark Hyman podcasts and have read his books. He is truly an expert on all things like this. Check him out. He is very reputable and A leader in the functional medicine space. Fixing the root cause is key and that is what functional medicine focuses on. I am taking magnesium citrate by pure encapsulations and it is really helping with my constipation. I am also taking Microbiome Rejuvenate by Big Bold health.
