So sorry you are having to deal with this, Kathy. Especially since it's not just the hearing loss but the annoying tinnitus and before that the vertigo.

The idea that you "threw a micro fat emboli" is interesting. My sudden hearing loss (when I sneezed, in 1999) was explained--after ruling out acoustic neuroma with MRI and perilymph fistula with exploratory surgery--as "could have been a virus." Eventually the dizziness sent me to an oto-neurologist, whose theory that a clot lodged in a vein in the inner ear seemed to make the most sense. So similar to your theory. As I'm sure you know, most cases of sudden hearing loss cannot be definitively explained.

Good luck with everything...when I lost mine, insurance would only pay for a bone-anchored hearing aid after acoustic neuroma surgery, but in I think 2005 the FDA approved BAHA for single-sided deafness even if not a neuroma, and I got my BAHA in 2008. Now I think they use cochlear implants instead of BAHA.

My tinnitus did settle down a lot over time; hopefully yours will too. Take care!

Thank you. This is very unexpected curveball to deal with and even if there are options, there are the hurdles of Insurance. I realize I’ve only just began my journey.
I do appreciate input from others who have traveled before me.
