Why don’t anxiety meds work for me?

I can’t know for sure why they don’t help you but I’m a person they don’t help either.

A few reasons in my case.

1) I’m highly treatment resistant when it comes to drugs overall. Especially SSRIs and A/Ds overall. I get very sick with side effects and eventually have no choice but to quit taking them.

2) Most important thing to ensure is that you’ve been properly diagnosed. For over a decade, I tried anything and everything and NOTHING worked. Just recently I finally learned why and it’s because I was never properly diagnosed and that in of itself was a huge part of the problem.

With my condition, I should NEVER be taking A/Ds.

This may not be the case for you at all but if you’re unsure, it might be something for you to consider.

My diagnosis of extreme depression and anxiety is correct. But, it wasn’t until recently that I found out that I am experiencing protracted withdrawal from improperly coming off Effexor. So no matter what antidepressant I was given, it wouldn’t take away the symptoms from the protracted withdrawal. It was a vicious cycle of trying one med after the other. Even the benzodiazepines couldn’t touch the level of bizarre physical symptoms I have.
Thank you for your response though. It is so appreciated.

What were you diagnosed with? I’m struggling to get on antidepressants and nothing is working.
